Roostoo

Roostoo is a lifelike mock crypto trading simulator that allows practicing trading at no cost with real-time market data.

We, a team of 3 core members, built and released the app on Android and iOS. The app was also on Product Hunt hunted by the #1 Product Hunter Chris Messina. Please try it out and leave us feedbacks！

Reimagine Podcast for L.A. Times

During my time in L.A. Times as a Creative Technologist Intern, I improved traditional podcast solutions by linking audio clips to articles, allowing users to dive deeper into topics. The prototype on which I did full-stack development provided a novel experience of podcast-article continuity.

Zige.js

Modern web browsers and operating systems fail to adjust spacing between CJK (漢字, ひらがな, カタカナ, 한글 자모, etc.) and Latin letters properly in a webpage. Zige is a Javascript library that enables you to have better spacing between CJK and Latin characters by one line of code.

SemanticAds

SemanticAds is a tool that detects brand logos in video contents and inserts advertisements based on the brands detected. It also removes irrelavant ads in the video. By doing this, ads in a video have a higher chance to target the right consumers.

SemanticAds came from a course project for CSCI 576 Multimedia System at USC.

Auxilium

Auxilium is a health emergency alert and help request system. It detects patients’ fatal cardiac failure, contacts the nearest registered AED coordinator and requests the nearest transportation for a hospital nearby.

Auxilium won Best Hack that Acts on the Physical World in Hacktech 2019.

Domum

Domum is an IoT (Internet-of-Things) system that helps shared apartment residents to split their utilities. We use IOTA blockchain for micropayments for residents’ consumption to make sure the consumption data is valid and unaltered. On the user end, the experience is the same as using an app.

Domum won First Place in Blockathon@USC 2019.

Mediocre Plan

Mediocre Plan helps discover cool tasks and start making everyday small changes. The idea was from my friend Race—”In today’s age, being cool is not so cool.” We believe the right way to break boredom is to think about the future and start some mediocre plans.

Predicting Student Performance

This machine learning research proposed a Bias-SVD model on predicting student performance achieving a Mean Absolute Error (MAE) of 6.07/100 points over 281,096 students, outperforming traditional “historical average” method on Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) by 4.20 points.

This project was awarded Excellent Graduation Design in China University of Mining and Technology (Beijing) in 2018.

Akaxin

An open-source private instant messaging service whose backend server repository, Openzaly, kept one of the most popular GitHub Trending repos and had over 1,800 stars. This project was discontinued in Dec, 2018.

Akaxin allows creating your own IM server. By lauching your site with one command and connecting it on the app, you have your own WeChat-like messaging server and keep all your data.
